Winter is the worst time for dry skin

Here we are in the middle of winter, feeling the cold and looking for a fireplace somewhere to snuggle up to.

The combination of cold air and our tendency to overheat ourselves has a drastic effect on our skin’s ability to retain moisture, resulting in very dry skin – especially on our hands.

Home treatment for dry skin on your hands

In my occupation as a beauty therapist I am continually washing my hands, which dries them out even more, leading to hard, cracked skin on my fingers.

But I need nice, soft hands for doing facial treatments so I do a variety of things to soften them, including home style treatments as well as salon quality treatments.

If you have dry hands try soaking them in hot salt water then massage a good moisturiser into your hands before going to bed. Be very generous with the moisturiser.
